Strong technical communication helps people understand complex information, make decisions, and take action.
In this Specialization, you’ll build practical skills for planning, creating, and improving technical communication for workplace and professional audiences. You’ll learn how audience, purpose, ethics, research, collaboration, organization, and reader-centered writing shape effective communication.
You’ll also explore document design, graphics, and digital communication before applying these principles to real-world formats such as memos, résumés, cover letters, proposals, reports, instructions, manuals, and presentations. By the end, you’ll be better prepared to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally across a range of technical and workplace contexts.
Applied Learning Project
Throughout the Specialization, you’ll put technical communication principles into practice through applied writing and document-development tasks. You’ll evaluate a résumé, revise a questionnaire, solve a collaboration challenge, prepare a memo, and practice a job-application letter.
You’ll also interpret a request for proposals, write a proposal, draft a directive and recommendation, evaluate and write instructions, and develop an oral presentation. These activities help you connect communication strategy with the kinds of documents and decisions you may encounter in real professional settings.
