Without a doubt the best TESOL course online. The content has been put together by the best in their field and I would recommend this course to anyone wishing to enter or re-train the TESOL community.

Excellent course structure. I really enjoyed it very much. I was always "shy" about online courses but after these TESOL courses by ASU, I am now hooked. I am even exploring Master's at ASU next.

Complete, useful and professional. I've learnt a lot on how to work on my portfolio. I also learnt a lot from my peers thanks to the peer-review task.

I would of liked a video explaining step-by-step how to organize the portfolio. Also to have been told how to title all our micro videos. This took a lot of my time to organize.

Waiting 5 weeks for a grade on the teaching portfolio is ridiculous. This miscommunication between coursera and ASU is also ridiculous. ASU sends me an email saying I've been graded and I've also received a certificate. However, I did not receive the feedback as promised and coursera claims that it is because I haven't received a grade and certificate, but hello??? Check again, I have a certificate. So ya, basically I had to pay for an entire month just to wait for my grade, which I didn't even get feedback for. I've canceled my subscription now which most likely means I will never receive the feedback, but at least I passed the course and I'm certified as Tesol teacher.

SEVEN STARS actually, not only 5!!! I was able to finish my course in less than 3 weeks! I started June 4 2023 and received my TESOL certificate on June 21st. I was sleeping at 4AM most days because I was so eager to learn and acquire all the principles. All the assessments, activities, presentations are instrumental to acquire the necessary knowledge so please dont skip the videos! I swear I did not expect to see so much effort, passion and excellence from an online course but my expectations were waaaay exceeded. Thank you also for the detailed feedback, I will treasure it! Thank you so so much to Dr. Shane Dixon, Ms. Jessica Cinco and Dr. Justin Shewell and everyone for making this high standard of learning possible at the comfort of my own home, from overseas.

The content of the course is really good and useful. But I have problems with getting my certificate. And I don't who can help me. I have already finished seven out of eight series in the course TESOL. I am currently enrolled in the last course TESOL Teach English Now! Capstone Project 2. I submitted my final project in May this year. Though it has been three months since it was graded, I cannot see my grade. And I didn't know if I passed or if I should edit my project and submit it again. Unfortunately, despite my long wait, I have not received my certificate or any updates regarding the completion of my course. I texted Coursera support@coursera.org for help but they did not provide me with any information. They just texted me that the address was unable to receive new emails. I do not know what to do in this situation and where I should seek help.

I recently completed an assignment for my course and uploaded it for review, only to find myself disappointed with the lack of teacher or peer reviews. Days have passed, yet my document remains untouched, leaving me anxious and frustrated. The urgency to obtain the certificate for job purposes adds further pressure to this situation. Regrettably, this experience leaves me considering alternative platforms such as edX for future courses. First and foremost, the absence of teacher or peer review has severely hindered my ability to improve my assignment. Constructive criticism and feedback are vital for academic growth, and the absence of these crucial elements has left me feeling unsupported and uncertain about the quality of my work. It is disheartening to invest time and effort into an assignment without the opportunity for comprehensive evaluation and improvement. Moreover, the timely provision of certificates is paramount for job applications or career advancements. As a student seeking to utilize this certification urgently, the delay in receiving feedback and subsequent certification has become an increasing cause for concern. This lack of efficiency raises questions about the responsiveness and commitment of the academic institution to its students' needs. In light of this experience, my confidence in the current institution's ability to provide a quality educational experience has been significantly shaken. When considering future courses, I am inclined to explore alternatives such as edX. This renowned platform offers a comprehensive and well-structured curriculum, with a robust system of teacher and peer feedback, ensuring that students receive the necessary guidance and support to excel. I urge my current institution to address this issue promptly and enhance its feedback system to better meet the needs of its students. Immediate action is necessary to prevent further disappointment and frustration among students who rely on timely feedback and certification for their professional aspirations. In conclusion, the absence of teacher or peer reviews for my assignment, coupled with the delay in receiving certification, has impacted my academic progress and undermined the value of my educational experience. This experience has compelled me to consider alternative platforms like edX for future courses. I hope that my current institution takes appropriate steps to rectify this issue and ensure a better learning environment for its students.

I enrolled in the "Teach English Now!" course series to enhance my ability to help professional sellers in the Philippines learn English and reach wider markets. However, I found the course to be far beyond what a beginner should handle. The curriculum required tasks like creating 10 detailed lesson plans and producing 10 videos, which are advanced and demanding. Additionally, the integrity review in the eighth course, where participants were accused of using AI without thorough investigation, was disheartening and humiliating. As a real estate educator with over a decade of experience, I found this experience particularly disappointing and felt it was an unwarranted attack on my credibility. This course should be clearly labeled as advanced if such high levels of output and perfection are expected. The review process also needs to be more supportive and less accusatory. While the course has potential, it must better align its content with the appropriate skill level of its audience and provide more support for beginners. For those genuinely investing time and effort to learn, the current structure is unrealistic and demoralizing. I hope these changes are considered to make the course more accessible and encouraging for all learners.

The scheduling of all the micro-lesson assignments was a complete mess. The final portfolio that we had to submit wasn't just a collection of all the previous lesson plans and micro-lessons; it required extensive reworking. Why weren't the requirements for the micro-lessons made clear from the very beginning? After submitting the portfolio, we received no feedback, as the teacher had claimed. Fellow students in the discussion forum encountered the same issues, but the course instructor hasn't responded in years!!! The process of obtaining the certificate is also very unclear (it's not just about completing the course and submitting the portfolio). You have to search for answers in the discussion forum yourself, which is a huge waste of time. Waiting for the certificate to be issued takes several months. I hope that any students who haven't started this course yet will see this review and choose a TESOL course from a different institution.

Well, well, well, Teach English Now! Capstone Project 2, where do I even begin? After investing countless hours in their 7 previous courses, diligently studying texts and videos, my expectations were sky-high. Oh, how sorely disappointed I was to discover that the pinnacle of this journey involved wasting even more time! The illustrious ASU "expert" took an eternity of 6 weeks to grace us with their presence and check our portfolios. Bravo, ASU, bravo! Your impeccable timing truly leaves one in awe. 🙄

I don't think they manage the course anymore. For the final project, they would just give you a grade (and it looks like a random act) without giving you any feedback. Not even a word.

For the Coursera MOOC format, and the restrictions that come with it, this is probably as good as you're going to get. There is a level of intentionality in the content creation, design, execution that I was are unable to fully appreciate until months later. This team really did the best they could with what they had. The "hosts" may seem simplistic or corny, but they are not speaking this way for their direct students, but for their academic "grandchildren" - our future students. They are modeling the way we will need to present for our students. Isn't it gratifying that they believe in this program, and us, enough to believe that we will be hired in this field?

I thought the EdTech portion was unnecessary at the time... I just experienced numerous examples of the Great EdTech Gold Rush and felt profoundly humbled. Even the message board cries of students of this program who don't understand why there is such a grading/feedback/certification lag of the final portfolio.... as Freire might say "a moment of critical consciousness"... like the Matrix. Ma$$ education is a benevolent dream, but not if it's executed in ways that are uneconomic.

There really is no real way to get over the barriers of students who cheat or the lack of real class or teaching experience. I suggest that students should volunteer in tsol or literacy in their communities/online to gain this experience, buff up the resume, and get references. I hope the team will find a way to adjust the application elements.

Some of the meta- Coursera and ASU admin Instructions could be more clear.

We're in a time in which it is so difficult for students to analyze what quality education actually is. What are we owed? Does accreditation actually hold water? Is this another gate to dash through in order to get a job? What are the real rules? Is it worth truly trying? Points vs feedback/dialogue? Are you owed any satisfaction?

After completing this course, I signed up for a Masters TESOL program an local accredited institution. The program was all online. I feel so grateful that I took this ASU/Coursera course first, because I was able to evaluate the quality of the platforms/content/teaching. I was able to "check my gut" and collect pointed evidence that the Master's course was more of a Degree Mill than a quality institution. I wasn't crazy.

I appreciate you all. Michael Crowe should pay you better.

It's been such an incredible journey! Absolute pleasure! Overall, it took me 6.5 month to complete both Specialization 1 and 2.

Huge THANK YOU - ASU for this course and for a chance to become an ESL Teacher! Thank you Jessica Cinco, Dr. Shane Dixon, Dr. Justin Shewell! You are the role-models of teachers for me now and forever! And I've just recieved feedback to my Teacher Portfolio! Thank you, Joseph Axel for your review! Guys, the course is just amazing! Don't hesitate to take it. The teachers are great - true professionals. And I liked the way they teach - actually they show everything, give examples, use MUD (if you know what I mean :) Assignments aren't eazy, and they aren't supposed to be such! But, you know, when you complete the assignments, you can be proud of yourself! Each time you'll learn smth new. And it's so fun to explore this course both as a student and a teacher! I gained much experience throughout Teach English Now!
