The course is of intermediate-advanced level. The material is quite good, and the instructors manage to convey the gist of the discipline, testing your understanding wirh quizzes and above all 'problems' requiring numerical and graphical evaluations. Why only three stars? Three issues: i) there is no course material, neither notes nor slides (not even a recommended texbook). When requiring to extensively use equations, this is particularly bad. ii) There are several issues with some problems and/or autocorrector, including also typos; some of these have been identified and reported on the Forum, with no consequence. I found problem of week 4 particularly challenging to pass (mostly because of 'crazy' and unstated tolerance of the numerical corrector) iii) There is no instructor present in the Forum to answer queries or fix bugs. All this suggests a poorly professional maintenance of the course, which seems abandoned despite being new.

"Seismology to Earthquake Engineering" on Coursera provides a thorough exploration of seismic phenomena and their implications in engineering practices. As a graduate student, I found the course structure to be well-paced and informative, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications. The instructors' passion for the subject shines through their engaging delivery, making complex topics accessible and intriguing. The inclusion of real-world case studies and interactive components not only reinforced my understanding but also fostered a deeper appreciation for the subject matter. Overall, this course offers invaluable insights for aspiring earthquake engineers and researchers alike, setting a solid foundation for further exploration in the field.

The 'Seismology to Earthquake Engineering' course was surprisingly interesting and educational. I gained extensive knowledge about seismology and its impact on civil engineering. The materials were presented in a very professional and structured manner, which helped me easily absorb the information. I recommend this course to anyone interested in seismology and earthquake engineering.

The instructors did an excellent job of presenting complex concepts in a clear and concise manner, making it easy for students of varying backgrounds to grasp the material. The course content was comprehensive, covering everything from seismic hazard assessment to the design and implementation of earthquake-resistant structures.

The Seismology to Earthquake Engineering course was very informative and helpful in understanding the relationship between seismology and earthquake engineering. He presented an in-depth analysis of the basic principles of seismic activity, the physics of earthquakes and their impact on building structures.

It was one of the worst courses I have attended: elementary and low-level content but complex tests. You will not get more than 30% of the grade to obtain a passing grade in the exams by watching the course videos. I used my previous studies for each test, and the course tutorials did not help and only misled me. Overall, I am dissatisfied with the cost and time I spent on this course.

The efficiency level of lectures is awfully low. The lectures are delivered in such a way that it feels like the lecturer is reading a script. Besides that, quizzes are not structured according to the lectures delivered. If a lecture video has detail or quality of 3/10, the quiz has difficulty level of 10/10.

This course proved to be a real eye-opener for me. It offers a well-structured immersion into the fundamental principles of seismology and earthquake engineering. The instructors, experts in their fields, deliver the material clearly and accessibly, making the learning process engaging and understandable even for those without prior experience in this area. I particularly appreciated the emphasis on the practical applications of the knowledge gained during the course. Not only did we study theory, but we also applied it in practice through various case studies and projects. This helped deepen our understanding of how to apply scientific concepts to real-life situations in the field of earthquake engineering. The course structure was organized in a way that allowed students to independently explore topics that interested them the most while providing sufficient guidance and support from the instructors. This created a stimulating learning environment where everyone could unlock their potential and derive maximum benefit from the course. Overall, the "Seismology to Earthquake Engineering" course from École Polytechnique met and exceeded my expectations. I gained not only fundamental knowledge of seismology and earthquake engineering but also practical skills that I can apply in future professional endeavors. I highly recommend this course to anyone interested in this fascinating field of science and engineering.

Some key features are not explained adequately. You need more information to understand completely the course. Week 4 is very difficult to succeed and complete, because is not given enough information to answer the questions in mini project 4. It is not recommended, if you don't have a civil engineering background.

the course went too deep into details that are not relevant to me. As a structural engineer, I am interested in learning about the effects of earthquakes on structures. I am not interested in the mathematical/physical theory behind the origin and manifestation of an earthquake itself.
