About the Course

Systems engineering is an interdisciplinary approach to designing, realizing, and managing complex systems. In this course, you will be introduced to principles of systems engineering and its importance to the development of complex systems. You will learn to identify and define systems, manage their complexity, and describe their life cycle. The course uses real-world engineering examples to address how the systems engineering approach can address challenges. This course can be taken for academic credit as part of CU Boulder’s Master of Engineering in Engineering Management (ME-EM) degree offered on the Coursera platform. The ME-EM is designed to help engineers, scientists, and technical professionals move into leadership and management roles in the engineering and technical sectors. With performance-based admissions and no application process, the ME-EM is ideal for individuals with a broad range of undergraduate education and/or professional experience. Learn more about the ME-EM program at https://www.coursera.org/degrees/me-engineering-management-boulder....

This is a good Specialization. Instructor is also a veteran pilot and a systems engineer. Great to learn from experts in the field. I must add though that specialization is lacking a capstone course. SE is all about realization of stake holders needs and following it through , so a capstone course will make this specialization more meaningful

A great introductory course. I would welcome some more specific examples of applications of SE. Reading official documents is great, but we don't get a chance to prove we've understood the process, I think. My learning method is understanding and then practicing, so I'd welcome that the most. Anyway, Thank you, William! :)

Great course, recommended for any engineer as these concepts can be applied in any field. It helps you to gain knowledge on how to manage large projects with multiple engineering groups and the importance of planning ahead. All the lectures are highly recommended and may spark new interest.

Really enjoyed this course. Covers a lot of the basics of systems engineering, hoping that the next courses in the specialization go into more detail, but found the instructors insights regarding the implementation of systems engineering in industry to be very interesting and useful

This was a great introduction & gave me an overview of why systems engineering is required, what it is & what it is NOT. The topics on MBSE clarified a lot of misconception in my mind as well. Loved Bill's laid back still that is rooted in practical experience.

Great to get an overview of Systems Engineering and why this approach to engineering is very useful to organize projects and adapt its design for the customer. A very objective way to communicate with your customer to reach a solution they actually need.

Good training. In general, I felt the Assignments and the concept check tests a bit too easy and quick. But perhaps it was appropriate for a first course of 3.
