This course by Professor Keith Martin is a fast-paced introduction to the basics of cryptography and six important classes of applications.
Even though the course is aimed at beginners, it contains a lot of material (e.g., on mobile telephony) that will be of interest to advanced students as well.
What I appreciated most about the course was the broad perspective and the relaxed manner in which serious knowledge was taught.

Easy class if you do all the reading like you are supposed to do. Loved doing the RSA algorithm formulas, and the binary formula. Loved the explanation of how the 128-bit compares to the 56-bit. You gain a better understanding of how the math of encryption really works.

Before you start this course, especially before you get to the final assignment, I recommend reading this review. I’ll get straight to the point and then provide more details. Let’s say the final assignment is something like this (just an example): Assignment: "Write a comparative analysis of Bert and Ernie and their adventures in the 1950s compared to their adventures today." When you go to "My Submission," you’ll need to add a project title and write your answer in the designated field. After you submit it, you confirm your submission, and that’s it, just like in other courses. Here’s the important part: Coursera automatically adds something at the top of your assignment after you submit it. They add: "Prompt Write a comparative analysis of Bert and Ernie and their adventures in the 1950s compared to their adventures today." This appears in gray, while your text is in black. You might wonder why this matters. In my case, three reviewers evaluated my assignment. One gave a standard review, one provided a detailed and positive critique with good suggestions, and the last one criticized my assignment for being AI-generated. Some comments were amusing, but I couldn’t understand why he thought it was AI-written. Then it clicked: he mentioned the word "Prompt" at the end of his comments, and I realized there might have been confusion because Coursera adds this word at the top of every assignment. The reviewer probably didn’t notice that his own assignment also had the word "Prompt" at the top and might have seen my assignment first. So, if you spend a lot of time on your assignment and then receive comments about AI because of this addition by Coursera, don’t worry. It’s likely just a misunderstanding. If needed, revise and resubmit your assignment, but don’t be surprised if this happens. It’s not a reflection on your work's quality, someone else simply didn’t pay enough attention to the details. I hope this helps you.

Looks as completely useless. Took about 30% of it and didn't understand - is there any one else purpose of it but not the presentation of a pure wrote book? Very useless.
