It does not cover procurement, transportation, or supplier network design.

Generative AI differs from the predictive models supply chains have used for years. Rather than producing only a number, it produces a forecast with a plain-language explanation of the drivers, drafts the vendor communication, and writes the weekly performance summary. In this course, that appears as SKU-level forecasts with explainable drivers, seasonal pre-positioning notes for vendors, and AI-generated KPI reports.

Access is what changed. A store manager who wanted a SKU-level forecast used to file a request and wait for a planning team, or work from whatever the system produced last quarter. Generative AI in retail removes that dependency: the same manager can now build the forecast, spot the anomaly, and generate the weekly performance summary directly, with the model explaining which drivers moved the number.
