About the Course

This is a technical, hands-on course that teaches learners how to build modern and continuous data pipelines with Snowflake. It focuses specifically on the most practical Snowflake concepts and tools to get learners up and running quickly with building data pipelines. Learners start by learning about the "Ingestion-Transformation-Delivery" framework for modern data engineering, and dive deeper into each component of the framework by learning how to: - Ingest data into Snowflake at scale using a variety of powerful techniques - Perform data transformations with SQL or Snowpark - Extend data transformations with user-defined functions, stored procedures, streams, and Snowflake Dynamic Tables - Deliver valuable data products through Snowflake Marketplace, Streamlit in Snowflake, and Snowflake Native Applications - Orchestrate pipelines using tasks and DAGs Throughout the course, learners follow along with the instructor using a combination of Snowflake, Visual Studio Code, GitHub, and the command line. The course is supplemented with readings containing plenty of resources to level up the learner's understanding of specific concepts. Learners come away understanding how to build end-to-end, continuous data pipelines with Snowflake....

Valuable, well-presented Snowflake knowledge that should be part of every employee's internal required training courses. A person walks away with sound all-around knowledge of data pipelines and industry practices. Not only are you shown how to use the common supporting tools, but your workstation is setup and ready so that you can be effective in your development as soon as you finish the course. Love Snowflake Notebooks and how easy and useful Dynamic Tables are!

The course was generally comprehensive on an introductory level for the data engineering stack in Snowflake. However, I struggled with the terminology for "modern" data engineering. Modern seems to be synonymous with the Snowflake stack in this context. However, modern could be referred to, more generally, industry-wide objectives (like Gen AI application development and real-time streaming applications). I think it could be helpful to talk about common data engineering workflows and further distinguish Snowflake's superiority. Moreover, many of the questions in the quizzes were very similar, if not simpler, than Snow Pro Core. It would be great to have a bit more coverage on product areas like Dynamic tables. i.e. transparent orchestration, operationally friendly as they are fully observable/manageable in snowsight, easy switching from batch to streaming etc. I thought the course teacher did a great job with covering the essentials and very clearly, comprehensively, and simply describing each feature. 5 stars for the teacher.

Good course. My main concerns are: - Anything that happens on the student's laptop can go wrong. So relying heavily on VS Code and Snowflake CLI is interesting but risky. - Streamlit and Snowflake Native Apps seem to be out of scope of modern data engineering. Snowflake should consider to deep dive more into data engineering features only.

It gives a overall idea of how to build data engineering at a very short period of time.

Good Course but applying in real project is not easy as customer are not using Snow DE features as this more coding proces to build the pipeline
