In this module, you will learn about the varying connotations of peace, conflict, and war. You will understand the connotation of peace that every age has its particular kind of war, with its own limiting conditions and its own particular pre-conceptions. You will be able to acknowledge the Grey Zone Conflict and examine the role and nuances of leadership with a special focus on ’Societies in Transition.’ Further, you will be able to understand the various nuances of conflict prevention. You gain insights into the important role played by the UN, including its peacekeeping and peace enforcement missions. Lastly, you will explore the nature and character of war, the seven distinct ways in which the parties can live with or dissolve their incompatibility, and the theme of peace building.
