This course, despite being offered by the University of Alberta, has very little content about Canada’s Arctic culture and peoples. It focuses mainly on Norway and Northwestern Russia. It is nevertheless and thought-provoking introduction to Arctic culture and the challenges, and opportunities, that it faces.

Too much "muh climate change", too little information on culture, habits, flora and fauna.

This is a wonderful short course featuring remarks by many native and professional speakers. It gave such a nice glimpse into the creative ways scientists and indigenous people are working together to ensure good outcomes to challenges in the Arctic. Very enjoyable.

I was really hoping to learn more about the indigenous of the arctic. Wish the videos that had a language other than English provided subtitles in-screen, instead of scrolling down to read along with the note (and only seeing a smaller version of the video on the side.). Course is more geared towards cultures in Norway (which makes sense as that is where the university is from). A little disappointed that the US was mentioned more than Canada.

I was hoping more of a Canadian perspective as I live in the Canadian Arctic and it was poorly represented. This is offered by a Canadian school but main focus on Russia, Norway, Greenland and US area's of the arctic. I was also hoping for more information on the impact on mining in the arctic but the focus was on Oil. It was a good course but lacking a lot still. It would have been interesting to hear a perspective on the EU seal ban on the artic as it's had a huge impact and driven Indigenous peoples into further poverty.

The information was valuable, but there was major audio issues for the entirety of the course making it much more difficult to follow. I followed via the subtitles and had the course on mute because the audio was incompressible and distracting.
