Catarina Mangas has a PhD in Education - Teacher Training, a Master in Supervision, a Specialization in Special Educational Needs, Cognitive and Motor Domain and in Language Acquisition and Disorders and a degree in Basic Education. Currently, she is adjunct professor at the School of Education and Social Sciences - Polytechnic of Leiria (Portugal) where she is lecturing Professional Higher Courses, Undergraduate Degrees and Masters in different areas, such as Education, Accessible Communication and Portuguese as a Foreign Language. She is an integrated member of the Interdisciplinary Centre of Social Sciences Research Unit (CICS.NOVA.IPLeiria) and collaborates in the Centre for Studies in Education and Innovation (CI&DEI). Her main areas of interest are Special Educational Needs; Language and Communication Sciences, particularly in the field of Specific Learning Difficulties and Language Disorders.
