George “Russ” Moran

Executive Professor

Bio

Russ Moran is an Executive Adjunct Professor for the D’Amore-McKim School of Business, as well as Bouve College of Health Sciences. He has taught at Northeastern since 2006. He brings more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry, focusing on organizational leadership, provider network contracting and strategy, service operations and technology, and service innovation. Moran teaches in Northeastern’s MS in Innovation Program, and MBA Program, where he teaches Service Innovation and Management, The History of US Healthcare Reform, and Innovation and Enterprise Growth. He is also a faculty member at Northeastern University’s Bouvé College of Health Sciences, where he teaches Strategic Management and Leadership in Healthcare, and Management Issues in Healthcare IT. He also serves on the Advisory Board at Northeastern’s Center for Health Policy and Healthcare Research, and the Advisory Board for D’Amore-McKim Health Management MBA. Moran is an active corporate educator for engagement for D’Amore-McKim School of Business, working with IBM, EMC, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Novant Health System, Natixis. and others. Moran is a core member of the faculty team in the areas of service and process innovation, including supply chain management, healthcare management and leadership, and healthcare analytics. Moran also served as Faculty Lead for the new on-line program initiative with Coursera, offering at 4 module course, Healthcare Trends for Business Professionals. The course focused on areas such as Healthcare Consumerism, Analytics and Machine Learning, Financing and Quality. Moran’s prior experience includes serving as EVP at Private Healthcare Systems where he was responsible for all physician and hospital contracting nationally, and as EVP at Tufts Health Plan where his responsibilities included operations, IT, provider contracting and all aspects of their Medicare Advantage product. Additionally, he was founder and CEO for more than ten years of a non-profit organization providing in-home care to seniors. He is a graduate of St. Anselm College and the University of New Hampshire. He is also a principal advisor for Decision Point Health Solutions an emerging health care technology firm focusing on health care analytics and strategy. He also serves on the Board of Advisors for Day Health Strategies.
