The diploma confirms completion of the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences and names the University of North Texas as the awarding institution. It does not reference online study or Coursera.
International applicants must meet one of the published English proficiency thresholds, including Duolingo 100, TOEFL 79, IELTS 6.0, or PTE 53. International transcripts must be submitted in both the native language and certified English translation, and UNT accepts transcript evaluations only from WES. The international transfer application fee is $85. Because the degree is fully online, it does not make students eligible for a student visa.
Yes. The programme is designed to support students who work full time or part time while studying. Students should plan for about 15 hours of study per class per week. Most students complete the degree in 2 to 3 years, depending on the number of credits they still need and how many courses they take each term.
Yes. Core classes completed at an accredited community college or another accredited institution can be transferred to UNT. In some cases, it may be better to complete an upper-division core course at UNT to maximise transfer flexibility, and students are advised to confirm their plan with a UNT advisor before enrolling elsewhere. Professional Foundations courses, however, are upper-division requirements that must be completed at UNT.
Yes. The programme is designed for degree completion and allows students to apply up to 90 transfer credits from prior college study, military training, technical learning, or work experience. UNT also accepts eligible U.S. military credit toward BAAS degree requirements, and students can submit a Joint Services Transcript for review.
Students must complete at least 30 credit hours at UNT to meet the residency requirement. The degree also requires 36 upper-division hours, and at least 24 of those upper-division hours must be completed at UNT. Upper-division courses are advanced courses typically numbered 3000 and 4000.
Tuition is $330 per credit hour for most students, or about $990 per 3-credit course, excluding books. The page lists an average programme cost of $14,850, with the possibility of earning the degree for as low as $9,900 depending on transfer credit. The application fee is $75 for domestic applicants and $85 for international applicants. UNT also offers federal and state financial aid, scholarships, payment plans, employer reimbursement options, and a Transfer Excellence Scholarship worth $1,500 to $4,500 for eligible students.
The BAAS programme has three cohorts each year, beginning in May, August, and January. Students may begin classes after admission, advising, and completion of the BAAS online orientation course.
A specialization is a set of four courses that builds deeper knowledge in a particular area. Students typically graduate with two to three specializations, depending on how many credits they transfer into the degree. The page highlights nine specialization areas overall.
Students learn in a fully online environment with access to a supportive community, learning services, one-to-one coaching, advisors, and career coaches. Online courses are taught by the same faculty as on-campus courses, and students can engage with peers through discussion forums, group projects, and optional live sessions.
