This course, Overcoming Dyslexia, is excellent! It's comprehensive and covers all critical issues concerning Dyslexia, from initial diagnosis to legal support. Various crucial topics are covered including evidenced based information and resources. This course is a MUST for anyone who is a parent or teacher of someone with Dyslexia. Sally Shaywitz has made her mark on the history of the remediation of Dyslexia intervention, support, and services. OUTSTANDING!!!

This course is a phenomenal review of what dyslexia is & how to diagnose and treat it. I wish the Shaywitz screening tool was used in the school systems that I am/was involved with. Use of this instrument and appropriate interventions would have made a world of difference to the many youngsters I know who suffer with this disabling condition. It shouldn't be this way and it make me very sad and frustrated!!! Thank you Sally for doing this work for all these years !!

This course is a wealth of information for parents and educators. The fact that 20% of people have dyslexia should be reason enough for all educators to learn recognition and strategies . What accommodations will help their students.

As parents we need to know how to recognize a problem, where and how to get help, how to advocate for Our children, and that the law is on our side.

I would like to see all people learn that slow reading does not mean slow thinkers.

I took on this course not knowing a single thing about dyslexia and now I feel more empowered than ever to support my dyslexic students. So many tools and wonderful stories were shared even links to libraries and names of schools that look out for these kiddos that can fall through the cracks. I am so grateful for Dr. Sally Shaywitz and making this her life's work, it's incredible, and there is no excuse to not learn about something we are not sure about.

Taking this course has given me so many tools that a special education teacher needs. I teach K-2 students, and now have a much better understanding how to spot the Dyslexic child early. I have had one of these students, and although I did not know what I know now as to how to help her, I certainly knew how intelligent, intuitive, and creative she is! This was an extremely helpful and informative course. As a teacher with several dyslexic students, this gave insight into issues I did not have sufficient comprehension of and how I could improve my approach to working with those students. Taking this course has been a motivation for me because I believe that I may have experience this challenge and I have learnt to socialize and read more novels. When I need a word pronunciation I use Google speech and everything is sorted.
