AWS: Databases and Migration is the seventh course of Exam Prep (SAP-C02): AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional Specialization. In this course, learners will explore Amazon RDS, covering Multi-AZ and Read Replica deployments, failover simulations, and comparisons with self-managed EC2 databases. The course also examines Data warehousing with Amazon Redshift and in-memory caching with Amazon ElastiCache. A significant portion focuses on Amazon DynamoDB, covering table creation, indexes (LSI & GSI), capacity, consistency, transactions, Streams, and DAX. Finally, the course addresses migration strategies using AWS Migration Hub, Application Discovery Service, and Schema Conversion Tool.
This course facilitates learners with approximately 3:00-3:30 Hours of Video lectures that provide both Theory and Hands-On knowledge. Also, Graded and Ungraded Quizzes are provided with every module to test learners' ability.
Module 1: Relational Databases in AWS
Module 2: Non-Relational Databases and Migration in AWS
This course is designed for professionals seeking to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of core AWS database services, including relational, NoSQL, caching, and data warehousing solutions. Understanding these services and essential migration tools is crucial for effectively building, deploying, and migrating applications and data on the AWS platform.
- Senior Solutions Architects
- Enterprise Architects
- Cloud Infrastructure Architects
- Senior DevOps Engineers
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
- Learn use cases of RDS, Aurora, Redshift, ElastiCache, and DynamoDB.
- Deploy Multi-AZ setups, read replicas, and DynamoDB indexes.
- Understand AWS migration tools: Migration Hub and SCT.
Welcome to Week 1. This week, we'll explore Amazon RDS, its core concepts, high availability with Multi-AZ deployments, read replica setup, and simulated failover scenarios. We'll compare Amazon RDS with self-managed databases on EC2 and introduce RDS Proxy for connection management. Additionally, we'll cover Amazon Aurora, including the differences between Serverless v1 and v2. Expanding beyond relational databases, we'll explore Amazon Redshift for data warehousing and Amazon ElastiCache for in-memory data storage. By week's end, you'll gain practical knowledge to design and manage highly available and scalable database architectures on AWS.

Welcome to Week 2. This week, we'll dive into Amazon DynamoDB, exploring its core concepts, table creation, and indexing strategies including LSI and GSI. You'll get hands-on experience setting up tables, working with secondary indexes, and understanding compute capacity and read consistency models. We'll cover advanced features like DynamoDB Transactions and DynamoDB Streams for real-time data processing. Finally, you'll learn about DynamoDB Accelerator (DAX) to optimize performance, including practical demos connecting EC2 instances to DAX clusters. By week's end, you'll have a strong grasp of building high-performance, scalable applications using Amazon DynamoDB.
