Prof. Kenneth Wai-Ting Leung is an Associate Professor of Engineering Education in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). He received his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of British Columbia, and completed his Master’s and PhD degrees in Computer Science and Engineering at HKUST. He has extensive teaching experience across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and his teaching excellence has been widely recognized, including being a three-time recipient of the Common Core Teaching Excellence Award. He is now a Senior Fellow of the Academy for Engineering Education (AEE) at HKUST. Prof. Leung is deeply committed to innovative and inclusive STEM education. He leads teaching development projects and adopts diverse pedagogical approaches such as active learning, experiential learning, gamification, and e-learning to foster creativity and critical thinking. Beyond the classroom, he has developed numerous Coursera MOOCs that have reached hundreds of thousands of learners worldwide. In recent years, his work has focused on AI coding literacy and AI-assisted learning, exploring how generative AI can empower learners across disciplines to prototype ideas, analyse data, solve real-world problems, and improve productivity, contributing to HKUST’s leadership in educational innovation.
